new harbor freight engine problem

Postby matt8960 » Fri Aug 20, 2010 10:00 pm

so i installed a new harbor freight 6.5 HP honda clone engine on my 3203 and it wont start unless the choke is closed. if i move the choke to the open position it dies right away! iv returned the previous harbor freight engine because of the same problem. what could be wrong!?!? :banghead:

Did you try putting it in the middle and wait 15 second's then put it on full for a minute. i do this and it will run for a while and then shut off. but when the engine get's warm it's ok. seem's i need to do this all the time when i fistt start it up and when the engine is cold.

keep it on full choke until it starts to die.open the choke and it should run.our lawn mower is very un predictable.the choke time varies everytime i start it.
Fix things even if they are not broke. Its called UPGRADES!!

i havent taken it to a mechanic but i read somewhere that drilling the jet hole bigger would fix the problem and disabling the oil sensor
