Need help identifying this Bodied Corvette Fun-Kart

Postby ToyotaDiesel » Thu Apr 06, 2006 3:08 pm

I just bought this to restore. It says Fun Karts on the steering wheel. Manco lists a 703-02 as a Corvette Castrol edition, but when I called manco they say all of their bodied karts are chain drive, this one is belt. Any help apprieciated. I need to locate replacement parts.

haha, yes it's for my son to restore. It seems its made by "Fun Karts, Inc, A division of Motorsports Promotions" ...which I can't find any referrence to on the internet. :pale:

Hi ToyotaDiesel,

Definately not a Manco, they have never used those type of steering wheels nor the wheels/tires.

Good pics by the way (you look good sitting in it, hey but no room for a cupholder for a cold brew or 2?). I'm sure we'll find an answer for you on here to get you a Mfg and parts outlet (we have some pretty good go-kart techies).

Thanks, though that's not me in it. I'll try and get a pic of the ID plate, but it's worn pretty good. Thanks Again.

That's the guy I bought it from. ;)

I'll get some fresh pics up soon.

So far, it looks like I'm going to need:

New seat cushions

corvette decals / striping

wheel bearings

and cables, tires, brake band, etc, but i think i can get those locally.

...and a spare drive belt / clutch would be nice, but I have no idea where to find one. Maybe the actual clutch springs are common parts, but the drive gear is for the belt, not a chain, and i've never seen one like it.

Here are some pics of what we've accomplished so far:

Not sure what I'm going to do about the rims. Their not very sightly, but I doubt I'm gonna be able to find replacements with that bastard belt drive...

thats looks cool! for rims, just paint them and theyll look cool if you dont want new ones. also i suggest buying a whole new drive setup. torque converter. comet 30 series should be good for that engine size.

cheers
