I have placed some posts in other areas.
My name is Todd Hanson. My son and I each bought used Manco Dingo karts in June of 2004. Well, I bought them. He hasn't spent a dime of his own money on them, but that is another story.
They were kind of worn, and somewhat bent, but they run well and the oil stays remarkably clean, given that we drive around in the dirt at times.
I have watched portions of OFK's videos. OFK - You claim to be drifting on your blacktop trail, but it looks more like weaving to me.
To drift, don't you need to slide?
I am 39. My first car was a 1968 Mercury Cougar XR7 with a 302 CID V8. Something of a small block muscle car. Back in the Stone Ages, Cougars were the luxury version of the Mustang. I also owned a used 1982 Firebird V6, a new Eagle Talon (which was very poorly made), and since 1997, I have owned a Saturn SC1.
Cars are fun, but very expensive, and very dangerous. Some of you might be waiting to get on the road, but I firmly believe you can have a lot more fun with your karts. It is much safer, too, as long as you are wearing your helmets, which I hope you do.
Reading this forum at work makes me want to get out and race around like a wildman on a go kart.
Oh, I brought up my age and car history because I am not really familiar with tuner cars, drifting, etc., which are most popular today. But I am aware of these things.
After my son flipped his kart over, and later hit a telephone pole and bent up the frame on MY kart, we installed a 5 point racing harness from my cousin's stock car. The three point belts which come with the karts really are not adequate. Safety is important, as it ensures you can drive again another day.
I will add pictures and things to my profie some day.
Enough from me!
