Our Forum has a "very picky" Spam filter in place for any new member with 2 posts or less (and) less than 30 days membership. This basically means if you don't have at least 2 posts and 30 days membership here your posts are going to be Spam filtered and this includes posting any kind of link or even an image link. By joining this Bypass Words Group (and getting accepted after review by a Moderator) you will not have your posts Censored by the Spam filter and any links (www or image) that you post will be shown.
If I don't request join the Bypass Words Group?
--You can't post any kind of a link or image to your posts or signature
--Your post can be held by the Spam filter and it will not post until Moderation (could be more than a full day!)
--Your posts are Censored for Spam keywords also...
The Censor (Spam Word Filter) may catch some legit words that you may try to use in your posts. (ie) Clutch Assembly (the A-s-s gets snagged) or I live in Essex County etc. Even some basic words commonly used in Spam ads will snag your posts for Moderation.
If I do request to join the Bypass Words Group?
--Once accepted by a Mod (profile review) your account will by upgraded to bypass the Spam filter
--You can post a link (not an advertising link however) to any of your posts
--You can post an image link in your posts as well as in your signature
--No Spam word Censoring!
So not joining this group is a (frustrating) pain to new users who take the time to write out a post only to see upon submitting it that it is being held for moderation. So just join the Bypass Words Group and avoid the frustration!
Last but not least... Why do we have this "very picky" Spam filter in place?
Well it seems some sites (webmasters) just want free advertising and they think that posting their "Viagra Ads" or "Free Adult Videos" links and pictures in Forums is a cheap way of getting the word out (yeah if the Internet is not plastered enough with this junk). Well my goal after being Spammed (about 5 to 10 ads per day) was to devise a way to stop these idiots from posting this garbage in our Forum. I tried many methods from catching them in what they call the cappcha (initial sign up form verification) to Humanizer questions on signup (like the one... are you human?) ...hehe, that worked for awhile b/c the answer "No" was checked by default and most Spammers have a program to write in their signup info hence missing this question to tab it to "Yes". The Spammers learned these techniques and finally wrote them into their insertion software programs.
So this Spam filter (slash Censor) is the ultimate multi level of protection against Spammers. (I call it Bamm da Spam) So no matter how they try to signup this filter catches them and bans their IP address. If they do get through they won't be able to post a pic or link, if they try their post is held for Moderation and I review it, then ban their IP address so they can't re-enter the Forum again. In this process NO material gets through to the end users (you see zero Spam!) Summing it up... this level of Spam protection is a "bit" of a pain for new users but it is simply the best way we have to keep a content focused Forum. You can simply be iignored by the picky Spam filter by joining (and getting accepted) to the Bypass Words Group! .....Enjoy your new "Bamm da Spam" Free Forum!
