torque converter misalignment

Postby dvdoc1 » Mon Jul 07, 2014 2:40 pm

I recently obtained a beat up Dingo 286. It had the wrong drive unit (series 20 not 30). I bought the correct drive but now I am unable to align the pulleys. Can the engine be moved to accomplish this? The driven unit seems to be fixed in place. Shims on the drive shaft move the drive unit out so that only 1/2 inch or so can be mounted on the shaft.
What can be moved or changed in order to align the pulleys?
Thanks

You would have to re-drill the holes to move the engine over, if you can't just move it over for that half inch you need. Perhaps an image showing what you have would get you more assistance. This way we can see what the problem is.
